Gunnar has been doing collabs with various Marvel properties so it was only right we see a pair of glasses featuring everyone’s lovable Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. These are also special as they are part of Gunnar Optik’s new ARBOR collection line.
How Do They Look?
Since these are inspired by wood it makes sense that everything is eco-friendly. The glasses box feels like a cardboard material that has the Marvel Groot logo on front while on top is the Marvel x Gunnar logo. Inside you are presented with a colorful teal blue pouch with the Guardians logo in brown on one side and that Marvel Gunnar logo again on the other end. The cleaning cloth is a mean mugging grown looking Groot reaching out that wraps around the other side.
Soon as you pick the glasses up you will notice the detailing of wood. It’s a walnut exterior mixed with a carbon fiber layering. Looks like one seamless design throughout the framing and temples which has a black line as well. Etched on back of the stems are the Gunnar branding while the left bottom one has the Guardians of the Galaxy logo.
Lens use Gunnar’s G-Shield coating for anti-reflective and smudge resistance. They are available in Amber, Clear, Sunglasses and if needed Prescription.
I’m rather impressed how light these glasses are. They are only 20g putting them in the same arena as the Fallout Vault 33 glasses.
Should You Get Them?
You be hard pressed to find some nice eco-friendly wood designed glasses like these by Gunnar. The quality is nice, and I just love the seamless wood pattern. If Groot is one of your favorite characters or you looking for a rather different design of frames I’d say to give them a try.
