Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale

Smartwatches are very useful little devices that help keep track of daily health metrics. While maybe not 100% exact, they can at least give you an approximation of activities and body-type measurements to give you a general idea of your overall health. However, a smartwatch can’t give you all your health metrics which is why there are other devices to fill in those gaps. If you’re using a Withings smartwatch, like the ScanWatch, you should check out the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale, which perfectly fits into their ecosystem. It provides metrics for weight, body composition, cardiovascular measurements, and vascular age. However, this scale was released nearly 3-years ago and over that time period, others have also released smart scales with similar features. So is the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale still worth a purchase 3-years later?

I should point out that a lot of this depends on if you’re using something like a Fitbit, Amazfit, and even the Withings smartwatch, and you’ll come to realize that they all have their own smart scales that work better within their own ecosystems. Sure there are also generic smart scales you see on Amazon, but those require their own apps as well and usually don’t sync up with these others. So if you’re using a Withings product, you’ll want to stay with other Withings products. This way, you don’t have a bunch of apps installed on your phone that don’t even sync with each other. If you don’t care however and just want the very best then the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale still ranks up there as one of the most advanced in the segment.

Our very own, Jason Million even reviewed this very same scale 3-years ago here.

Anyways, the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale is one of several smart scales that they make. This one is their top-of-the-line model as well as their most advanced. While most scales only feature the measuring of weight and BMI, this one adds body composition and heart rate. We’re talking full-on measurements of muscle mass, fat mass, water %, bone mass, heart rate, and vascular age.

I should also mention that the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale has been developed in conjunction with cardiologists and has been included in several validation studies at leading hospitals in the EU and US. This is only one of the only scales that measure your cardiovascular age, which was only just added last year.

While you should always take some measurements with a grain of salt with their accuracy, I would use these to get a general idea of your overall health. Obviously, if things look suspect, you should always consult your physician. Speaking of measurements, however, I do like the fact that the Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale is very fast. It takes just 30 seconds to measure everything and it quickly syncs those measurements to your Withings Health Mate app. I had no issues with the scale gathering my info and it does seem like accuracy was improved over the course of the last 3-years.

It syncs the information over WiFi and or Bluetooth, depending on how you have it set up. I also like the fact that it has settings for up to 8 members of your family and it always seems to know who is on the scale.

I would recommend this scale if you own other Withings products. It just makes sense to stay within the same ecosystem for all your health needs. The Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale works seamlessly with the Withings Health Mate app and I like that I’m able to see many more metrics now in the app. Basically, the scale measures quite a bit of information for those who are metric obsessed. Not only that, it is possible to export some of the scales data to other apps if you have them linked to the Health Mate app.

The Withings Body Cardio Smart Scale is priced at $149.99 which is lower than it was 3-years ago, but if you don’t need all the features, you can also pick up the Withings Body or Body+ scales for less. You can grab it on Amazon, here.
