Status Audio has been out quite a while working on that perfect pair of headphones / earbuds being an alternative to the established brands and bringing you as many features with better sound. Their latest Pro X might live up to that name.
Style
There are two colors of the Status Pro X which is Moonbeam that is a beige color and Black Alloy which Status Audio was kind enough to send over. The charging case is two toned with a mostly matte black finish while the top has a dark metallic look where their brand insignia also resides. The case itself has a USB-C port and weights 48g. It’s pocketable and doesn’t leave many bulk.
Now the earbuds themselves have an unfamiliar but welcome style change from the typical ones you see out in the market. The base of the earbuds is shaped to fit more into your ear helping them stay in and keep noise out. Attached to that is a rectangular slab that is touch sensitive and has a physical button. The earbuds are mostly black with about 25% of them being in metallic chrome. They are rated IP55 for water and dust resistance.
The eartips themselves are silcone. Eartips do a good job staying in my ears even during various movement. Interestingly Status Audio has replacement options such as memory foam if needed.

Features / Sound
Let’s get back to those buttons on the earbuds. These are used for ANC / Ambient toggling (Single Click), Voice Assistant (Double Click), and a Manual Power Off (holding both). They aren’t customizable but those touch panels are. They can do Single, Double, or Triple Taps or even Tap and Hold. You can use them for play controls, volume controls, or ANC / Ambient as well. Even disable them all together if you decide to. This can all be accessed in their Status Audio App. They also have Find features either by last location or sound.
Status Audio ‘s EQ is very specific with distinctive sound profiles and descriptions. You can still use the custom EQ if any of thier presets don’t satisfy your ear.
Trying out these different preset EQs my go-to would be either Status Signature or Knowles Preferred. A track I typically play “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” usually has some hard bumping bass but on the Pro X it still had kick but felt more relaxed and richer. But Busta Rhymes vocals seemed to shine more which is a plus. Listening to Bill Withers sing “Ain’t No Sunshine” sounds like you are right in the studio with him.
Status Pro X utilizes 12mm dynamic drivers and dual tweeters by Knowles. Also, they support up to 24 bit / 96kHz audio and LDAC that streams to 990kbps. They are just about covering all your bases in terms of sound quality.
Experience
I been more surprised with the Status Pro X headphones than I imagined. Switching between various earbuds I did find myself gravitating back to these. For the sheer comfort and impressive battery life. They give you 8 hours on a charge or 24 hours on the case. You can push it all to 32hrs depending on your listening preference. I seldom have charged these earbuds.
I tend to like the various buttons and touch controls on the earbuds. You can do a lot from the earbuds not needing to jump into the app all that much. Wearing them for long periods of time hasn’t produced any fatigue or discomfort in my ears as well.
With calls the person on the other end can hear me clearly and vice versa. Ambient sound is decent for hearing my surroundings while noise cancelling especially on my long train commutes held up well.

Verdict
Status Pro X can stand on its own against some of the bigger audio brands in the same space. Their earbuds are comfortable with a nice fit, chock full of EQ features and its hardware functionality has been stellar whether it want to use touch or physical controls. The ambient / ANC configuarations are decent.
For $249.99 they sit at a nice price, being less expensive than the highly touted Sony WF-1000XM6 and B&W Pi8.
