Razer has announced a collaboration with Section 9 Interactive, the developer behind End of Abyss, showcasing its Mako X desktop gaming speakers through the sci-fi action-adventure’s sound design and gameplay-reactive lighting.
Audio plays a huge role in how I connect with a game, especially when the environment is supposed to make me uncomfortable. A noise somewhere out of sight can have me slowing down before anything appears on screen. That makes End of Abyss, with its abandoned underground complex and threats lurking beyond view, an interesting setting for this collaboration.
Hearing What’s Waiting Below

Exploration in End of Abyss relies partly on listening to the environment. Distant echoes can suggest what lies ahead, while warning sounds give players a reason to react quickly. Razer is positioning the Mako X around bringing those details forward, from machinery humming in the background to the heavier sound of an encounter breaking out.
The speakers use custom-tuned 2.75-inch full-range drivers alongside passive radiators for additional bass. Their compact 2.0-channel arrangement also keeps the setup relatively straightforward. I appreciate that approach for a gaming desk, where speakers still have to share space with displays and everything else we use.
Lighting Built Around the Game

The collaboration extends to Razer Chroma RGB, with developer-designed effects responding to explosions, reloads, and taking damage. Compatible Razer devices, such as the Basilisk V4 Pro, participate in those effects, while the Mako X’s underglow carries the lighting onto the desk.
What interests me here is Section 9 Interactive’s involvement in shaping those reactions. Lighting has more appeal to me when it connects to something happening in the game. In an environment as dark as this one, there’s an opportunity for those changes to reinforce the tension without pulling attention away from the screen.
