The official Campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is live, and the part that interests me most is what happens when Price’s methods put him at odds with the people who once trusted him. His shadow operations are driving a story built around fractured loyalties, uneasy alliances, and a conflict that threatens to reach well beyond its starting point. There is plenty of room for the large-scale action associated with Modern Warfare, but the tension within Price’s own circle gives this campaign something more personal to work with.
Following the events of Modern Warfare III, Task Force 141 has been disbanded and Price is on the run. Former allies are questioning his decisions, while working with a former enemy becomes part of his path forward. Meanwhile, North Korea has invaded South Korea, and a mysterious weapon is headed toward the villain known as the Archer. Its potential to disrupt the world order puts another threat alongside the fighting already unfolding on the peninsula. Official campaign details
For me, the opportunity here is in making those relationships matter throughout the campaign. Price operating outside the rules creates an interesting premise, particularly if the people around him have convincing reasons to push back. I want to see that disagreement carry weight in the missions and conversations that follow. The scale of the threat can establish urgency, but the characters need to give us a reason to care about how it ends.
That question of where Call of Duty goes next also extends to Treyarch. Following consecutive releases with Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, the studio’s final Black Ops 7 developer talk looked toward its future. Design director Kevin Drew reflected on lessons from the past two years and expressed an ambition to create a fresh experience. The discussion arrived alongside Season 6’s September 17 launch, marking a transition in focus without revealing exactly what the next project will be. Treyarch’s developer update coverage

I would leave room for what that actually means. Those comments alone do not confirm that Treyarch is abandoning Black Ops or developing an entirely new franchise. Still, the willingness to discuss change is interesting. My hope is that whatever comes next has a clear identity, with ideas that meaningfully change the experience once we have our hands on it.
For now, Modern Warfare 4 is the next campaign on the calendar. Players who digitally preorder the Standard or Vault Edition on a supported platform can begin the Campaign on October 16, ahead of the full release on October 23. That gives campaign-focused players a week to follow Price’s latest operation before the wider launch. Campaign Early Access details
