CD PROJEKT RED is giving players another reason to return to the Continent. During gamescom Opening Night Live, the studio revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, a major upgrade arriving September 29, 2026, alongside our first look at the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
More than a decade after Geralt’s journey first launched, Remastered is shaping up to be considerably more than a visual refresh. The upgrade brings improvements across graphics, performance, combat, traversal, monster behavior and several of The Witcher 3’s underlying gameplay systems.
Even better, existing owners on qualifying platforms will receive the Remastered upgrade for free.
What’s New in The Witcher 3 — Remastered?
The Remastered edition introduces a lengthy list of changes designed to modernize Geralt’s adventure, including:
- Upgraded visuals and performance
- Enhanced combat
- Improved movement and traversal
- New Witcher Sign effects
- Revamped mount handling
- Enhanced monster behaviors
- Reworked skill tree
- Transmogrification
- Expanded Photo Mode
- New finishing moves
- Additional gameplay improvements
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches September 29 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Nintendo players are also getting a significant upgrade. A native Nintendo Switch 2 version will arrive alongside the other platforms on September 29, marking the first native release of The Witcher 3 for Nintendo’s new hardware.
CD PROJEKT RED is also expanding the game’s PC availability through a new partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, bringing The Witcher 3 to Battle.net.

Songs of the Past Takes Geralt to Letten
The bigger surprise may be Songs of the Past, the third full-scale expansion for The Witcher 3.
Launching in 2027, Songs of the Past sends Geralt to Letten, an entirely new region built around rural traditions and folklore.
On the surface, Letten appears idyllic. Its inhabitants enjoy plentiful harvests, elaborate festivals and a seemingly peaceful way of life. Naturally, this is The Witcher, so something considerably darker is hiding underneath.
Geralt will encounter new enemies as he investigates the region and confronts a long-dormant evil threatening Letten.
CD PROJEKT RED previously confirmed that Songs of the Past is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory, whose leadership includes developers who previously worked on The Witcher 3. The expansion is currently scheduled for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine Are Now Free
There’s also some great news for anyone who never experienced Geralt’s original post-game adventures.
All existing owners of The Witcher 3 can now access Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost.
Both expansions were major additions to the original game, with Blood and Wine in particular introducing the massive region of Toussaint. Making both available to existing owners gives players plenty of time to experience Geralt’s previous adventures before Remastered arrives in September and Songs of the Past follows in 2027.
The Witcher 3 itself has remained remarkably successful more than a decade after launch, recently surpassing 65 million copies sold worldwide.
The Witcher 3 Is Coming to Battle.net
CD PROJEKT RED has also partnered with Blizzard Entertainment to bring The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net.
Players who purchase Songs of the Past through Blizzard’s platform will receive a special Geralt-inspired skin for Diablo IV. Additional information surrounding the crossover will be revealed when CD PROJEKT RED attends BlizzCon in September.

Geralt Isn’t Done Yet
More than 10 years after The Witcher 3 first arrived, CD PROJEKT RED clearly isn’t finished with Geralt’s adventure.
Between the extensive Remastered overhaul, free access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, a native Nintendo Switch 2 release and the arrival of Songs of the Past in 2027, there’s suddenly a lot happening around The Witcher 3 again.
Songs of the Past is particularly interesting as CD PROJEKT RED has described it as a proper expansion rather than smaller DLC, with Joint CEO Micha? Nowakowski previously suggesting its scope is closer to Blood and Wine.
