ASUS Republic of Gamers is celebrating 20 years of ROG with its most ambitious gaming handheld yet. Preorders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 are officially live, with the limited-edition handheld launching October 15 for $1,299.99. A much larger X20 Bundle will also be available for $2,499.99.
The X20 isn’t simply an Xbox Ally X dressed up for ROG’s anniversary, either. ASUS has made some substantial changes to the hardware, including a larger OLED display, new controls and AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor.
A Bigger OLED Display Comes to the Ally
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 introduces a 7.4-inch 1080p ROG Nebula HDR OLED display capable of running at 120Hz. It supports FreeSync Premium Pro with a 30–120Hz VRR range, Dolby Vision and DisplayHDR True Black 1400, while reaching up to 1,400 nits of peak HDR brightness.
Under the hood, ASUS is pairing AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD. There’s also an 80Wh battery, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, USB4 connectivity and a microSD Express card reader.
The X20 weighs approximately 1.67 pounds, making it a substantial handheld, but one that retains the Xbox-inspired grips we’ve already seen ASUS adopt with the Xbox Ally lineup.
More Than a Black-and-Gold Ally
ASUS is using a semi-translucent black chassis with gold internal accents, illuminated gold joystick rings and a special ROG 20th Anniversary badge. ASUS has equipped the X20 with full-size TMR joysticks, alongside redesigned rounded face buttons and an interesting transforming D-pad that can switch between four-way and eight-way configurations.
Combine those changes with the larger OLED panel and the X20 is beginning to look less like a collector’s reskin and more like a meaningful evolution of ASUS’ handheld platform.
The $2,499 X20 Bundle Goes All Out
If $1,299 somehow isn’t enough ROG for you, ASUS is also releasing an ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle for $2,499.99.
That package includes the X20 alongside the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses, a custom dbrand Killswitch and skin, joystick covers, a custom Pelican Protector Case and 68W power adapter.
The ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 uses Micro-OLED displays capable of producing a massive virtual display experience with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz, essentially turning the bundle into ROG’s ultimate portable gaming package.
It’s also a very expensive one.

At $1,299, the X20 is unquestionably sitting at the extreme premium end of the handheld gaming PC market. But the combination of OLED, TMR controls, the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and ROG’s anniversary design makes this far more interesting than a simple limited-edition Xbox Ally X.
Now we just need to get one in our hands and see whether that $1,299 price tag translates into an equally premium handheld experience.
