Incase is known for their mobile and laptop accessories so when my work laptop got upgraded to a Macbook Pro, I knew who to turn to for protection. On my previous Macbook Air, I had used the Incase Dots Hardshell Case, which I was extremely happy with. It provided ample protection for a better part of 2-years and never cracked or chipped on me. For the Macbook Pro, they sent over both the Dots Hardshell Case and the Edge Hardshell Case. For this review, we’ll be taking a look at the Dots Hardshell Case.

The Incase Dots Hardshell Case for the Macbook Pro 14-inch is also made of Makrolon polycarbonate. The difference between the Dots case and the Edge case is that the Dots one does not have a completely clear shell. Instead, this has textured dots and has a more translucent look. The case also has a more uniform surface where everything is just one texture. For the Incase Dots Hardshell Case, I chose the black color. It’s a nice contrast to the Space Grey and gives the Macbook a different look. This case actually comes in a wider variety of colors.

On the bottom of the case, you get four rubber feet for grip, and the case features full cutouts for all the ports and airflow openings on the Macbook Pro.

In terms of protection, the Incase Dots Hardshell Case offers as much protection as the Edge Hardshell Case. It also doesn’t add much bulk, and what it does add, I’ll easily take for the peace of mind of knowing that the Macbook is protected from minor drops and scratches.

So which case do I like more? I slightly like this Dots Hardshell Case more than the Edge Hardshell Case; however, I’ll still be sapping them out every so often, depending on my mood. They’re both really good and preference depends on you. With that said, definitely pick one of these up if you own a Macbook Pro.
