My travels tend to start the year off every January for CES, but I ended up having a trip in mid-December with OnePlus flying from NYC to Miami and then to on a cruise to the Bahamas for an extended weekend. This was the perfect way to put some mileage into Aer’s Carry-On Luggage and it didn’t disappoint.

Style

There is a choice of five colors from Aer for their Carry-On luggage. Those range from the usual Black to the eye-popping vibrant Safety Orange. Totalling five various colors. I love the attention it brings when seen and you will automatically see how it distinctly stands out from the usual black crop of suitcases. Aer’s suitcases are comprised of Makrolon polycarbonate making their exterior exceptionally durable.

While I have seen Hinomoto miraclent wheels on various other suitcases, Aer collaborated with them to add one cool feature. There is a brake system that will keep your luggage from rolling away as we have seen in multiple scenarios. It’s quite easy to access as there is a latch that hides right underneath the retractable handle as you pull it up. When I originally saw this feature, I couldn’t wait to test it out. Next to the sturdy handle is a TSA approved combo lock.

Inside the suitcase are two compartments for storage. One is a zipped section and the other more open but can be compressed down. Zipped side can be used for things like shoes or other things you want to keep secure. There are also two additional zipped areas on top if you want to store magazines, cards, tablets, etc. The other area I used mostly for clothing purposes. Aer uses a magnetic Fidlock fastener to secure your items tightly if necessary and hold everything down. It uses a single strap rather than two you see on other competitors. If you want to hide a tracker such as a AirTag there is a hidden pocket for it.

Aer Carry-On comes with a laundry bag and storage bag cover.

Usage

As I mentioned I was going on a trip to OnePlus in December and that required me to fly from NYC to Miami. I used it as a Carry-On, and it was a breeze traveling through the long airports of NYC and navigating through Miami’s as well. Besides being put up in a couple of overhead bins it was also tossed into bus baggage storage as well. With it being a bright orange color, it did end up gaining some minor scuffs, but it was not too bad if seen far away. I hate to see it go through a check-in scenario and hope I can avoid that.

It got a bunch of compliments for its astonishing orange exterior. Its wheel brake system helped it from accidentally being pushed away or even swapping bit while I was on a rocky cruise ship at times.

Verdict

Using the Aer Carry On for my NYC to Miami to Bahamas trip was an enjoyable experience. The luggage held up with all the packaging and kept everything together even as I brought back more stuff than I originally left with. Its outer shell deemed durable and survived the trip mostly unscathed besides some scratches/scuffs which will show on its lighter colors.

Aer Carry On retails for $299.99.

I do wish I had a bit more room and if you feel the same as me they also have a Max version which is actually only a $20 difference at $319.99.

Aer does provide a lifetime warranty on their products that seems to cover few things like broken zippers, cracks in suitcase shells, broken wheels/handles. That is something to consider if interested.
