Sony always has you ready for the summer with its array of speakers and the ULT Field 1 is no different. It has a sporty look that comes in a multitude of colors and pumps out some loud bassy sound.
Style
The ULT Field 1 speaker has a cylindrical shape with passive radiators for enhanced bass. It is partially covered in nylon mesh and has rubberized sides for durability. A detachable strap allows for easy portability despite its 650g weight. The speaker features buttons for power, Bluetooth, volume control, and ULT illumination. It is IP67-rated, making it waterproof and dustproof. A USB-C port is hidden under a rubber gasket seal.

Setup
It doesn’t take much to get the ULT Field 1 up and going. Just charge it up, power it on and synchronize it to your favorite smartphone. You can download the app so it can assist with various things such as updates. You can also pair this speaker with another ULT Field 1 or other ULT speakers to have the party jumping in whatever room you are in.
Sound / Experience
This speaker produces powerful, loud, and intense sound, delivering a strong bass experience. It can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors. I had it in the office for a 4th of July party as we listened to some older nineties jams. It filled the room quite nicely. Outside while walking in the park, I cranked it up and you can feel its presence. Soon as you press that dedicated ULT button it kicks everything up a notch. I also evaluated its tossing in the water sprinklers, and it shook it off with ease not missing a beat. Its nylon mesh material dried up quickly as well.
It does have a 12Hr battery life and it was on par with this as I had seldom charged it up. Getting it paired up with phones was easy when handing it off to friends to synchronize their own tunes.

Verdict
The ULT Field 1 speaker retails for $129 but have seen it hovering around the $99 price range lately. It makes for a great companion for outdoor activities like parks and beaches, or even for home use during the summer. It comes in various colorful options and boasts an impressive battery life of up to 12 hours.
