T-Mobile is part of America’s top US carriers with the leading 5G network. T-Mobile’s 5G standalone network has four-carrier aggregation and soon uplink carrier aggregation – the only network with these capabilities from a top provider in the United States — delivering up to 90% faster uplink speeds and enhancing video livestreaming, video calling and gaming. That means uploading a video is twice as fast at T-Mobile, especially when using the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series of devices. To test this claim, T-Mobile was kind enough to send a Galaxy S24+ and a sim. We’ll be testing this out in Miami, FL to see how their network stacks up here against my current network provider, AT&T.

Most of this test was done in the real world using T-Mobile’s Galaxy S24 Plus variant along with my daily use Galaxy S24 Ultra on AT&T. While not a one-to-one exact comparison, it’s close as they both feature very similar specs and have the same network capabilities. How I ran these tests was to use the Speedtest.net app at various locations using both phones to compare speeds. The major difference however was the server they connected to, which one was the T-Mobile-recommended one and the other was an AT&T-recommended one.

You can see here that T-Mobile slightly wins the speed test in my home. This is just one example, but multiple tests run had similar results. I wouldn’t really call this a win since the speeds are fairly similar.

Here’s where things got really interesting. Leaving my house and heading towards the heart of Kendall, I did a quick speed test with both networks and T-Mobile shot through the roof here.

Here are two more locations in the Miami area that I frequently go to. The Hammocks is notorious for having some of the worst signals on the planet and it’s the same for T-Mobile here. You can see on the left just how abysmal the speeds are. On the right, we have South Beach and the speeds there honestly aren’t any better.

So as you can see, the speeds you get from whatever network you are on depend on the area you are in. I will say that overall, it does look like T-Mobile has very good speeds in my area so if you’re in Miami, FL, T-Mobile is a good choice as your carrier. Not sure if the speeds are any worse with phones other than the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, but if you are looking for a phone with good speeds on T-Mobile, the Galaxy S24 series seems to be a good choice.
