Viotek GFI24CBA 24" Gaming Monitor

A proper gaming PC setup is never complete unless you have the right gaming monitor. Like computers, monitors are a very personal choice with tons and tons of options to choose from. You could go with a typical widescreen option or an ultrawide setup if you need more display space. You also need to think about whether or not your gaming PC can handle specific resolutions and refresh rates as there is no point in picking up a 4K monitor or something with 244Hz if your rig can’t handle it. Of course, you could always play it safe and go with a tried and true 1080p monitor with 144Hz for a setup that is guaranteed to work with almost any gaming setup, like the Viotek GFI24CBA 24″ Gaming Monitor.

SPECS

For most people, the Viotek GFI24CBA will be more than enough. This goes for both gamers and non-gamers. The main draw here is that it’s a 1080p IPS monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and 4ms response. It also has MPRT mode to eliminate smearing and motion blur and features Adaptive Sync, which is compatible with both FreeSync and G-Sync. That means it will work great with both Nvidia and AMD cards. The display also features one HDMI 1.4 port, one HDMI 2.0 port, and one Display Port 1.2. There is a USB 2.0 port, but that’s only for use when you want to update your firmware.

As you can see, just from the specs alone, it’s a pretty good gaming monitor that most people will be happy with. Sure it doesn’t have 2K/4K resolution, isn’t ultra-wide, and isn’t curved, but then again, those are just luxury features most people really don’t need.

DESIGN

The Viotek GFI24CBA is a well-built gaming monitor, though there’s nothing really that stands out about it design-wise. It has a pretty average-looking rectangular base and a pretty average-looking arm. What’s good about the stand though is that it is adjustable for height, tilt, and swivel. Not only that, but you can also rotate the monitor 90-degrees to portrait mode. Lots of gamers like to do this if they’re using this as a second display so they can view more with apps like Discord or Twitch.

As for the monitor itself, it’s a regular 24″ widescreen display with a resolution of 1920×1080, so you’re looking at a 16:9 screen. That’s normal these days and is a great size for pretty much anything. It also has an anti-glare coating on it so it’s not shiny at all, which is a big plus in my book. That means no reflections for a much cleaner and clearer picture. This display is also an IPS panel for much richer colors. The monitor also has very thin bezels on the display, except for the bottom part of the monitor. It’s pretty much edge-to-edge.

There are no fancy RGB lights here and for the most part, just an average-looking monitor. That’s not to say it looks bad because it really doesn’t. It’s a clean-looking monitor that will look right at home in an office setup or a gaming setup.

EXPERIENCE

For reference purposes, I tested the Viotek GFI24CBA with an AMD Ryzen 5 PC with an NVIDIA RTX 3070 and 32GB RAM. I also used it with the included DisplayPort cable and also set the refresh rate the 144Hz along with turning on Adaptive Sync.

The picture quality on the monitor is amazing. Even though this is only a 1080p monitor, the IPS panel had some really rich colors, which kept my games looking tip-top. The blacks on it also seemed pretty black, so that’s good too. In terms of speed, the 144Hz refresh rate kept all the action onscreen looking smooth and blur-free.

Viotek GFI24CBA 24" Gaming Monitor

This is a great monitor for gaming in terms of quality but it’s also a fairly affordable monitor as well for those who already spend too much on their PC or for those who maybe want to add a second monitor. Which I should mention is a hugely popular thing to do. In fact, you could run two of these and would be really happy with the outcome.

On a side note, the Viotek GFI24CBA 24″ Gaming Monitor seems to have built-in speakers, even though it isn’t advertised with them and it doesn’t show up in the spec sheet. While the speakers aren’t exactly what I’d call really good, they’re not terrible if you just need something to hear some sounds and want to keep your desk relatively clutter-free.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Viotek might not be quite as popular as some of the other named brands out there, but they are showing up at all the major retailers. I know the first time I even noticed this brand was during last Black Friday when I saw them for sale at Walmart, Best Buy, and other big box stores. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of checking out a few of them so far and in terms of quality and bang for the buck, you’re getting it.

The Viotek GFI24CBA 24″ Gaming Monitor is more than perfect for most people out there. For the hardcore gamer, these work well, but you’ll probably want something with higher resolution, or an even higher refresh rate. However, from what I’ve experienced so far, this is a great monitor for both casual gaming and competitive gaming and most people should be happy with it.

I should also mention that Viotek does include a 3-year “Zero Dead Pixel” limited warranty.
