Its been a while since we’ve last seen Thor fighting with the Avengers, as he and the green guy were certainly missing from roll call in Captain America: Civil War. As the countdown to the Avengers next epic showdown is just over a year away. Thor: Rangnarok is poised with answering all the questions left behind after the conclusion of Thor: The Dark World and of course the Doctor Strange post-credits. Lucky for us Marvel has released the first trailer for Ragnarok. This Thor feature clearly has a completely different feel to it, and that’s solely because of its change in direction. This time around New Zealand comedic director Taika Waititi has taken reigns. If you’ve seen some of the extras from the Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange Blurays/DVDs, you would have caught the satirical Team Thor shorts, those are also his doing. New to the cast we have, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge. There are more cast surprises in store, I’m deliberately excluding them out. For those listening, the trailer is set against Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”, rock’s great nod to Norse mythology.

Here’s an official description of the trailer, “Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok, the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization, at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela.”

Thor: Ragnarok storms into the theaters November 3rd.
