Transformers is probably one the greatest cartoon shows and comic book series’ ever created and in the 80’s the cartoon in particular was king. Since then we’ve gotten Beast Wars, the Michael Bay movies and a variety of different interpretations of the Transformers. Some were pretty good and some, not very good at all but no matter what it always created a following.
Now, we have a new version of the Transformers called the COMBINER WARS which seems to take place during the CyberTronian wars and the events leading up to when Optimus and Megatron have their final showdown similar to the 1986 Transformers:The Movie.
If you didn’t know, Combiners are a group of Transformers (usually 5 members) whether Autobot or Decepticon that merge to form a larger more powerful robot. The most notable and everyone’s favorite was Devastator who was formed by the Constructicons merging. With this new series you can expect to see quite a few more that you can remember and possibly some new ones.
Although what is known about this new series is still very vague we will get more of an idea through a series of four weekly “Preludes” starting with Optimus Prime who by the way is no longer the leader of the Autobots. The series itself will be on Machinima on August 2nd so look out for it. It’s going to be incredible. The show is geared towards the older crowd who grew up watching the Transformers that always wanted to see the Cybertron Wars as they were. According to the press release for the show this is what we can expect from the preludes:
1) Optimus Prime, the former leader of the Autobots, reflects on the great war and how it finally ended with a duel between him and the mighty Megatron.
2) Victorion, a Combiner born from the magic of the ‘Enigma of Combination,’ describes her anger with this new state of affairs and proclaims her intention to save the Transformers galaxy from the chaos created in the aftermath of disbanding the Autobots and Decepticons.
3) Starscream, no longer the villain we once knew him as, is now a member of a great ‘Council’ along with The Mistress of Flame from the planet Caminus and Rodimus Prime. The burden of responsibility is heavy on the three due to the destruction and loss of life from the ongoing Combiner Wars.
4) Windblade, once an official ‘City Speaker’ to the gigantic ‘Titans’ is tired of the bureaucratic non-action of the Council, who seem to sit idly while her people and her cities on Caminus perish. She decides that the only way to end the Combiner Wars is to take matters into her own vengeful hands.
