Last April, I was certain that no-one was quite ready for the incredible success of Marvel’s Netflix venture. Charlie Cox as Daredevil was an amazing feat. It was dark, gritty, action-packed, compelling storytelling. The idea of waiting an entire year to continue the story…Well, I was reasonably upset. But today is a good day. Netflix has released a (emphasis on) teaser trailer to hold us over and a released date! So the wait is just a little shorter this time.
Here is the Daredevil season 2 official synopsis:
“Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.
Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.”
With the main cast and Vincent D’Onofrio returning, the inclusion of Jon Bernthal (Shane from The Walking Dead) and Elodie Yung (Jinx, from G.I. Joe: Retaliation), season 2 of the man with no fear has a lot of exciting things to look for. It will be interesting to see if and where this season may fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Jessica Jones and (soon) Luke cage upping the ante, let’s hope season 2 lives up to expectations.
Judgment arrives March 18.
