It’s a little late in the month but never too late to bring awareness to important issues. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Since 2001 domestic violence awareness and prevention has been a philanthropic focus for Verizon. They established the HopeLine program because they recognize that domestic violence is a national problem that impacts our communities, neighbors, coworkers, friends and family members. Verizon believes that through their network and technologies they can be a part of the solution.

Through their HopeLine program, Verizon collects used wireless phones, chargers and accessories and turns them into financial support for non-profit domestic violence organizations nationwide. They also donate wireless phones, complete with voice and text messaging service, to domestic violence shelters for use by victims and survivors.

If you’re not sure exactly how to help, HopeLine® from Verizon is offering two ways for people across the country to take action through Oct. 31:

  1. Purchase exclusive purple accessories, including a headset, phone case, tablet case and more, at Verizon store or online, and HopeLine will donate $1, to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, up to $100,000.
  2. Donate used wireless phones, chargers and accessories, from any carrier, at a Verizon store to help HopeLine reach its goal of collecting 1 million phone donations by the end of 2015 to support victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Verizon Will Offer Purple Accessories throughout October to Support the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
