Google is looking to change the phone case game with a recent collaboration they setup with Grammy winning producer / EDM artist Skrillex. It’s not your ordinary mashup as these Limited Edition cases are laced with NFC. “Editions” as they are being called have a companion live wallpaper which is connected to a balloon satellite launched into orbit by Skrillex. It will beam these images to your smartphone and change regularly throughout the day. Also built on the cases is a shortcut button which you can customize to your liking. Use it to launch the wallpaper or maybe even your camera.
Cases are available today til end of June(or while supplies last) and can be fitted to your Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4. All three are limited and individually numbered for $40.
Interesting tidbit : Fans who get the Live Case will get early access to a free OWSLA album from Google Play and Skrillex updates sent directly to their phones. A shortcut button built-in on the Live Case gives you one-touch access to Skrillex’s music feed on YouTube. The button can also be customized to open your favorite apps, launch your phone camera or go to Skrillex’s website.
