With the HTC One on Sprint, I have been texting like crazy. I am not sure if you’ve seen the aluminum uni-body on this bad boy but it’s definitely not one that you want to scratch or buff. For a new phone like this, I wanted more than just basic protection, but I didn’t want a big boring box type of case.
I have used Speck cases before, such as the SmartFlex card-holder case on my iPhone 5, so I know and trust the brand. Surprisingly enough I’ve never tried their popular Candyshell series. Speck’s Candyshell Grip, an extension to the original model is made for texters.
Speck CandyShell Grip Design and Features
The pink and grey color combination CandyShell Grip (AKA Raspberry/Nimbus Grey) suited me best since I love the color pink so much. When putting on the case, you soon realize that the HTC One’s identity is gone. No longer will you see any signs of the shiny aluminum body that everyone is raving about. If you’re not well informed about the latest phones out, you won’t be able to make out the rectangular shape.
If you can move past that, you can see the great features this Speck case offers. The pink part of the case is the soft Candyshell part. It’s just nice and shiny. The grey part is the “grip” part of the case. These rubber bumpers allow you to hold the phone comfortably. The case allows you to access and use all ports freely. The HTC One’s volume rocker is covered by the CandyShell Grip case. You might have to press a little bit harder to change the volume, since there seems to be a space between the rocker and the case. The grip is steady for those rapid texters and web surfers who are constantly typing away. I found this case so useful when balancing myself on the train and trying to text or play a game with one hand. For those who know how clumsy I am, you will agree what an added benefit the bumpers are for me. Speck’s CandyShell Grip also has a thick and elevated frame around the screen. This allows you to put your phone face down without risking damage to your screen.
Get on Grip On This CandyShell?
I found the case to be one of my faves from the multifunctional case list. If you enjoy the look of the HTC One, you probably won’t like the playful and bright colors the CandyGhell Grip adds. You might take a look at their Gemshell clear case: Check out the review HERE. I like the extra thickness the case offers as well because it allows me to handle the One with ease. Some might not appreciate the added weight For those who need a screen protector however will have to buy one separately.
You can get the Candyshell Grip at Speck’s official site for $34.95. It comes in 4 color combinations.
