What a way to launch a product that appeals to the casual and hardcore gamer at the same. In eight different locations across the country, Sony has created these “Sony Social Clubs” where you can hang out and basically play Sony Playstation products, whether it’s the PS Vita and/or the PlayStation 3. It pretty cool. You can hang out with a fellow gamers, talk gaming, have some free snacks, play in tournaments, and hopefully win stuff.
I like the location of this particular Vita Hill Social Club as its not in the usual busy area such as “Times Square” or “Soho” or just somewhere where anyone can just walk in. I know it sounds kind of selfish but its cool to go here and relax and just play some games without crowds of lurkers around for no reason.
They had a host of games here at the Vita Social Club from games just released to soon to be bonafied hits. Some of these games were:
Unit 13– a decent 1st person shooter to show you some of the cool aspects of having two analogs on a handheld.
Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3-no need to go on about this one.
ModNation Racers-like playing Mario Kart on steroids lol.
Reality Fighters-its kind of fun but cheesy at the same time. Moving the PS Vita around got tired after a few mins.
Virtua Tennis 4-which i thought was pretty addictive to play where you can use the touchscreen to hit the tennis ball or the buttons(prefer buttons).
Now one of the main reasons I went here was to check out Mortal Kombat for the Vita and they were supposed to have a tournament. But unfornuately there was shipping issue and has been postponed. MK has been one of my favorite games from 2011 and I was definitely hype to see how it carried over to Playstation beefy new portable. They took my email down and stated they will contact me if there are any changes. I hope so.
All in all, the Sony Playstation Vita Hill Social Club is a cool gaming spot to check out. There are no fees to get in and it gives you a good all around feel of the Vita if you are weary of purchasing it like I originally was and ended up buying it the other day.
