If for some reason, the Gmail implementation on your iOS device isn’t sufficient enough and you need more advanced features, Google has now released an official Gmail app into the App Store.
I was content with using Gmail through the mail app, but after reading what the Gmail app has to offer, I may have to try using this instead. It has a lot of the more advanced features like threaded messages, labeling, organization, and more. Judging by the screenshots alone, it really does look like this will supercharge the way you use Gmail on the iPhone/iPad.
*Update – I just realized that this app only allows 1 account at a time. Power users may not like this, especially those who have more than 1 Gmail account like I do.
*Update #2 – And just like that, the app has been pulled from the App Store due to bugs I’m assuming.
Get the official Gmail experience for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
With the Gmail app, you can:
â— Receive notification badges for new messages
â— Read your mail with threaded conversations
â— Organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting, and reporting spam
â— Keep track of important messages with priority inbox
â— Auto-complete contact names as you type
â— Send and receive attachments
â— Search through all your mail
The Gmail app is available for devices running iOS 4+.
You can grab that app here which isn’t quite yet listed in the App Store.
