J. Cole’s From “Wet Dreamz” to Cute Dreamz [Music Video Review]

By - April 2015

The Roc Nation soldier J. Cole dropped a very creative and flipped from the norm music video for his latest single “Wet Dreamz” directed by Ryan Starke. To keep the momentum of the successful 2014’s Forest Hills Drive album, this piece of cinematography starts off as the typical love story with J. Cole departing from his crib walking his dog. So of course you next see the legs of a female exiting her yard with her dog and immediately you think, “That’s Cole World’s crush right there.” You’re partially right. B-B-B-B-But wait there’s more! Just when you’re thinking the typical is going to happen the storyline remains but the visual transforms into the art of cuteology. The lead role is taken over by these adorable four legged furies. This was a great play on the normal visual of the boy crushes on girl music video. I definitely give props on the creativity on this piece and for a moment it takes you away from the obvious to a different look on that empty stomach feeling of puppy love. A “Nice Watch,” pun intended.
