Don’t mind the title. That was my poor attempt at trying to be clever. Instead, pay attention Outdoor Tech’s new Privates wireless headphones. These new headphones feature Bluetooth wireless conectivity, though that’s not what makes them special. What makes them special is the touchpad interface that is located on the right earpiece and allows the user to change tracks and control volume with the swipe of a finger. That means no more feeling for small buttons and instead, you can just use gestures to control your tunes. The Privates also feature a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for a wired connection, built in rechargeable battery, call functionality with the built in mic, and up to 32 feet of wireless streaming.

The Outdoor Tech Privates are available in black, green, mustard and turquoise and may be purchased for $99.95 at www.outdoortechnology.com. Check out the official press release below for more info.

Press Release

Los Angeles – September 24, 2013 – Outdoor Tech®, the same outdoor designer brand that brought you the Turtle Shell® Bluetooth, rugged, wireless boom box, enlists another player to its cache, the Privates.  The Privates wireless headphones feature a touch-pad interface that allows you to control tunes with the flick of a finger.

“We announced the Privates at CE Week earlier in the year garnering intense consumer and retailer interest. We’re stoked to begin shipping this highly anticipated piece of our line this week, and expect it to be on top of many must have holiday wish lists,” says Caro Krissman, CEO of Outdoor Tech®.  “The Privates are unlike anything we’ve done before. We really wanted to expand on our expertise in wireless audio to include something unique, stylish and affordable; we achieved that with the simple touchpad control interface, clean lines, four hot colors and the sub $100 price point.”

The Privates touchpad interface is located on the right earpiece and allows the user to change tracks and control volume with the swipe of a finger.  They also feature a 3.5mm auxiliary jack for a wired connection to kick it old school in situations that don’t allow for Bluetooth connectivity, like on an airplane, with a non-Bluetooth device, or if you forget to charge them.

The Privates also project a fuel gauge onto your device that actively tells you how much juice you’ve got left. Soft ear pads and a canvas wrap around the headband make for the most comfy headphones out there. Finally, they come with a signature ODT carry pouch. Details count… you don’t get a toy with your Happy Meal just arbitrarily.  Check out more:

•    32-Feet of Streaming – The Privates stream crystal-clear audio for a range of up to 32 feet for 10 hours on a single charge.

•    Built-in call functionality – When connected to your phone, the Privates’ built-in microphone allows you to make and receive hands-free calls from anywhere, anytime.  One press of the multi-function button allows you to answer or hang up a call without ever touching your phone so you can use your hands for more important things, like digging for treasure.

•    Portability – Integrated hinges allow you to fold and stow your Privates when they are not in use.

The Privates are available in black, green, mustard and turquoise and may be purchased for $99.95 at www.outdoortechnology.com.

About Outdoor Tech®:

The fundamental dilemma: blending a modern lifestyle in the age of mobility with the drive to be outdoors.  Our development of wireless audio has been shaped by this constant push and pull, to stay connected but not tethered. Mobile devices have reshaped how we live, but standing alone, they merely scratch the surface on enhancing our lifestyle.  A mobile device that requires a cord to play music and have a conversation is like a brain using only portion of its potential, cut the cord to realize a higher consciousness.    Outdoor Tech® is about escape; breaking away from the city, routine, and the mundane. Our pulse beats design, style and creation.  We don’t define ourselves by the space that confines us, but we do draw from it. Our mission is to create stuff you probably want, stuff that enhance experiences with the outdoors, with technology, and within.
