The challenge of stepping up your vlogging gear – whether it’s your smartphone or a basic vlogging camera like an OSMO Pocket or similar device – can mean compromising on the portability of your camera. This is especially true of full-frame cameras. But today, Sigma’s newly announced FP2 hopes to change that. The Sigma FP2 is the “world’s smallest full-frame mirrorless camera” but that doesn’t mean that it can’t handle big jobs. It’s a big boast from Aizu based company, here’s what you can expect.
Sigma FP2 Key Features

The following features list was incorporated from an early spec-sheet provided by Sigma. You can find the full feature list on their website.

Why You Should be Keeping an Eye on the Sigma FP2
If videography/filmmaking is your primary wheelhouse, the Sigma FP2 is built around simplifying your recording workflows – no matter what your output aspect ratio is supposed to be. The FP2’s 6K OpenGate recording allows you to use the entire full-frame sensor once, then easily crop into 9:16, 16:9, 4:3 or any other format without sacrificing image quality. The FP2’s new tilting LCD screen is a major improvement over the original allowing you to view 90-degrees up, and 45-degress down. Helping add polish to your visuals, Sigma also brought over the 13 in-camera color modes from the last year’s Sigma BF.

Good videos are about sound as much as they are about image quality. Sigma’s fully aware and for that reason have incorporated 32-bit Float Audio when paired with the HU-21 Hot Shoe Unit. The new hot shoe accessory allows you to pair various external audio devices for run-and-gun recording without the worries of clipping your audio.
Is This Just a Video Camera?
The Sigma FP2 is more than just a video camera. Sigma has made significant improvements to the Stills features in the FP2 including Advanced Subject Detection which now includes a dedicated Bird Tracking function and improved overall speed and accuracy. Another nice added feature is the addition of a timelapse option to the camera that will stitch together multiple still images into a singular timelapse video. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing just what this camera can do for capturing sports and birds.
First Take and Sigma FP2 Availability

On paper, the Sigma FP2 fixes many of the issues that I had with the original and fp-L variants of the camera. At a recent launch event at the Balloon Museum in New York City, I got a chance to try out the camera and try out some of its features. From the brief time I spent with the camera, I was impressed with just how pocketable this camera is – even with a 50mm F2 lens attached. At the event, Sigma invited three panelist who’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with the camera. Among them, photographer and content creator, Kyler Steele’s testimonial stood out:
“As a hybrid creator, this camera has really impressed me for its size, portability, and then on top of that, the modularity and performance. With both photo and video mode, I’ve really enjoyed the autofocus of the camera, and I’ve especially enjoyed using this tilting EVF that comes with the camera.”
After a few minutes of using the camera, I too was smitten with the ability to quickly stash the camera into a jacket pocket and continue to walk the streets in incognito mode. It’s too soon for me to form concrete opinions about this camera, but my initial thoughts bounce between “this is so much better than the original,” to “this is a video camera that takes amazing pictures.” Which is not to say that it’s a bad thing, just that I’m still getting acclimated to using the FP2.
As of this writing, there are no official prices for the camera and dedicated accessories, however, the new Sigma FP2 is expected to be available globally beginning on November 11, 2026. We’ll be sure to update once pricing is announced.
