Today, Lost Rift, a survival adventure shooter from People Can Fly developer, launches in Early Access with full HDR10+ compatibility. These are the same folks that developed Outriders, which I reviewed many moons ago! Although I gave it a 6/10 initially, the game became a cult hit that followed with an expansion.

This news comes as HDR10+ just recently announced compatibility with Borderlands 4 and Hell is UsHere’s the most recent release.

“The HDR10+ integration into the game was so simple and easy that it didn’t require any of their team’s support. It has increased the visual quality and color fidelity of our game, Lost Rift.”

– Clifford Roche: Lost Rift Technical Lead

Quick refresh on HDR10+: HDR can make games look incredible, but until now, roadblocks like manual calibration and inconsistent visual performance across devices can really muck up the visual quality of the game. We’ve all heard the HDR horror stories. HDR10+ fixes that, delivering spot-on picture quality, so players get a consistent, immersive experience they can count on, and developers know their games will look just how they intended.

The other tech angle: Lost Rift also introduces Mixed Asynchronous Persistent World Play, a breakthrough in survival game server architecture. Traditionally, players face a tradeoff: persistent worlds vulnerable to attack while they’re offline, or closed worlds that only load when the host is online. Lost Rift combines the best of both; your base remains secure when you’re away, while friends can still asynchronously play on your island. This innovation is further enhanced by HDR10+, which brings richer, more vibrant visuals to every player.
