A few months back, I reviewed the PNY PRO Elite V3 Flash Drive. This is a flash drive that features USB 3.2 Gen 2 technology with speeds up to 1000MB/s read & up to 800MB/s write. I liked it for its speed, portability, and premium build. It had one drawback, and it was that it featured a traditional USB end, and most new devices these days only come with USB-C ports. To solve this, PNY has released an updated version of the flash drive as the PNY PRO Elite V3 Type-C Flash Drive. This features what we loved about the original, but now with USB Type-C.
Like the original PNY PRO Elite V3 Flash Drive, the Type-C version is also very well made. This is a heavy duty flash drive with a premium metal body and sliding mechanism that helps protect the port end when not in use. There is a small portion of it that is made of plastic, but it looks durable enough to keep up with any wear and tear.
In terms of speed, you’re looking at up to 1000MB/s read speeds and 800MB/s write speeds. This is great for storing large files and videos that would normally take a lot longer to transfer with slower drives. With 1.0TB of storage, that is plenty of space for all your music, videos, and documents. I probably wouldn’t use it for installing games, but for files, it’s perfect. Also, because it utilizes USB-C, you can use this with almost every new device on the market, whether it be a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. So I use this with my work laptop, my home computer, and my Galaxy S24 Ultra to transfer files quickly between all of them.
Overall, the PNY PRO Elite V3 Type-C Flash Drive is a very good portal storage device for files. The speeds seem faster than other flash drives of similar specs, and the pricing is actually less that the original version, so that’s a win. Other than that, you’ll probably be impressed with its solid build, metal construction, and convenient sliding mechanism.
