Dolby revved up CES 2025 this year focusing on Cadillac’s OPTIQ vehicle. This was the first time folks were able to get the OPTIQ outfitted with Dolby Atmos and to be frank it sounded great no matter where you sat in the SUV.

Cadillac’s OPTIQ is equipped with a 19-speaker system by AKG that would help take full advantage of Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. We listened to tracks such as “Boom” by Tiesto which is bass heavy thumping track. As some of the ad-libs were spoken you felt like they were right behind you or around you. Another track we listened to was classic 80s track “Take on Me” by A-Ha. Vocals were so clear even for a track from that era it felt like they were singing in the car(i caught myself singing right along, ha). Thanks in part to Dolby Atmos’ multi-dimensional audio.

We were taken on this musical ride with General Motors Vehicle Chief Engineer John Cockburn. Tim Pryde who is head of Dolby Music gave us a great explain about Dolby’s history and also it being presented into cars such as the OPTIQ and Sr. Mgr Whitney Lewis of Cadillac gave us some background on Cadillac as a brand.

OPTIQ has a gorgeous 33″ diagonal advanced LED 9K display that stretches from the driver’s side to the middle for access by driver and passenger. Another cool tech feature is Google built-in allowing access to Google Maps and Assistant. This vehicle comes in two options of either Luxury or Sport each with a particular preference for the consumer and pricing starts at $54,000.

Optiq has multiple Drive Modes such as Tour used for everyday driving, Sport for enhanced road driving and improved steering, Snow/Ice to prevent wheel spin and My Mode which personalizes the driving experience with adjustable braking responsiveness and steering feel.
