Tribit has been around for quite a few years now. They mainly make audio products, and in the past, I’ve checked out headphones, earbuds, and speakers from them. I’ve been generally happy with what we’ve seen from them with amazing sound and build quality at an affordable price. One of their latest products is the Tribit StormBox 2, which is part of their popular StormBox line, featuring 360° Surround Sound, XBass tech, 24H of playtime, IPX7 waterproofing, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

The Tribit StormBox 2 is a tube-shaped speaker for 360-degrees of sound. It is roughly the size of a bottle of water. That means it’s compact and will fit into most backpacks’ water bottle pockets. The speakers are surrounded with a fabric-like material which gives the StormBox 2 a more luxurious look and feel.

The speaker features huge playback buttons so that you’re never fumbling around for them and a waterproof design so that you can pretty much take it with you anywhere without fear of damaging it. You can tell that the speaker is waterproof as all the buttons have been sealed to prevent water from leaking in and the charging port rubber flap cover is nice and thick and takes some force to remove. There’s also a loop strap on top that makes it easy to carry.

Aside from the looks, the Tribit StormBox 2 is an audio heavyweight! In normal mode, the sound is very crisp and clear. The 360-degree sounds allow you to hear clear audio no matter how the speaker is placed. Highs and mids are very clear, and there’s a good range in the upper end. On the low end, where the bass is, leaving it on normal is not very deep. It’s acceptable for most situations, but it doesn’t have the punch. It’s not until you turn on the XBASS that things get interesting. This basically amplifies the bass and to the point where you can not only hear a bass increase but also see the speakers thumping. It makes the bass sound really deep and I think for the most part, you’ll probably want to just keep XBASS on, unless you’re playing music that is very vocal or instrumental heavy.

With all that said, the Tribit StormBox 2 is a fantastic little portable speaker. The size makes it super easy to carry around in your bag, and the large controls make it simple to use. The large 5200mAh battery gives the speaker a crazy amount of playtime, and Bluetooth 5.3 means you can use it at greater distances. Let’s not forget that the speaker sounds really good with any type of music genre you throw at it. All these qualities make the Tribit StormBox 2 a clear winner in my book.
