Bone conduction headphones seem to be gaining popularity mainly with the fitness crowd. This could be due to several advantages over traditional headphones or earbuds. They are super comfortable and compact, many are waterproof and can be used for swimming, and some even have built-in storage for music so you don’t need a Bluetooth connection to your phone. One such device is the H2O Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport Waterproof Open Ear Headphones with Built-in MP3 Player. These target active lifestyle users and are perfect for biking, running, and swimming.

The H2O Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport is an open-ear design headphone where the “speakers” sit outside of your ear and rest on your cheekbone. The headband wraps around the back of your head and along the top of your ears. Most of the hardware sits behind and in front of your ear, creating a balanced feel that is comfortable to wear.

These are 100% waterproof, rated IPX8, and allow the headphones to withstand submersion to 12’/3.6m underwater for an unlimited amount of time.

What you’ll love about these is the patent-pending PLAYLIST+ feature. With 8GB of storage built-in, you can preload all your favorite songs and enjoy your music untethered from your phone. This is great for swimming because obviously, you’re not going to have your phone with you in the pool.

If you don’t want to make use of the built-in storage, you can also connect the H2O Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport via Bluetooth, which works quite well, except for when you’re in the water. The Bluetooth range when you’re in the water is only a few inches, so Bluetooth is not advised.

In terms of audio quality, the H2O Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport sounds pretty good. They’re clear with very good highs and mids. The bass isn’t too bad either and certainly doesn’t lose out to regular earbuds. They don’t sound much different however from other bone-conducting headphones I’ve tried so don’t expect these to be better or worse than the ones you’ve tried.

Aside from that, the H2O Audio Tri Pro Multi-Sport is a great choice if you’re looking for bone-conduction headphones that can be used for swimming, running, cycling, and casual listening. They sound great and are comfortable to wear. I still prefer something like this over traditional earbuds mainly because earbuds always make my ears hurt after long periods and these don’t. Also, PLAYLIST+ is super convenient, not having to be connected to my phone to listen to music.
