It’s a scam. From FNTASTIC’s first ever reveal trailer that’s been scrubbed from their YT channel to their legal debacle and shoddy “gameplay trailers” that followed, the game was already looking to be fake. Even after giving the benefit of the doubt, especially after the company provided a code to their early access – right after I was done with their basic character creator, the experience that followed became ever clearer: it is not an open-world MMO survival game, it is in fact a poorer-than-poor-man’s extraction shooter with bare minimum content, and I can’t see this dogshit of a disrespectful game ever reaching the height of their initial promise.

I am pissed.

It is Worse Than You Think

The servers. The game boasts a grand vision of populated servers stemming with players and things to encounter – but what we really got was an always-full, 36 players server load of pure disrespect. The servers were atrocious. Not only the fact it had such a small limit, but there were a ton of servers to choose from that felt artificially full all the time – clearly designed as a tactic to elongate playtime and discourage refund requests. The absence of a party system compounded my frustration, making it a solo endeavor or a chaotic attempt at coordination. My colleague and I spent nearly 4hrs attempting to join a server together, and when we did, it placed us in difference instances; just imagine how frustrating that can be. Even with its relatively OK graphical presentation for an early access game, it’s filled with pre-bought assets from the UE store placed randomly to give the illusion that there was some form of effort. 5 years of developing this game? What a load of shit. This was a lazy attempt in making an extraction shooter with low effort budgeted assets, and then lying to us about that and saying it’s one genre, when it’s another, and then poorly executing it. Heck, the zones we get which is Woodberry, and then getting teleported to Fortune City, are filled with loading screens and crashes.

It doesn’t help that exploring Fortune City is at its worst here; you are placed randomly within the city and from there you scavenge for loot, fight zombies, fend off actual players and extract back home, you know, Tarkov. Except, it is done in such a way where driving a nail between your fingernails is far more enjoyable than playing this game. There are no zombies to fight. For every 10 blocks, you may find 1 or 2 bunched together, and killing them reveals that there is major input lag within these servers coupled with even more tremendous gaps to run through before your next fight.

“Oh, I hear gun shots this way!”

Nope. That’s just artificial sounds these scammers put to give the impression you are surrounded by players fighting each other. You will eventually bump into a player, but fighting them also present the same input delay, and it’s so glitchy that you’ll often see them crouched and moving in Sonic speed while clipping you from behind cover and die, losing everything you’ve earned in the last hour or so. The only viable option is to wait by extraction zones and ambush players for ez clapz.

But there are cheaters and duplicators with endgame loot that requires months to grind for.

ffs.

Is the loot worthwhile? No. 90% of the time you spend on scavenging will result to finding a bunch of useless items to sell for extra in game currency. You can find vault keys that can potentially offer the best gear in the game, but they’re also always empty or at their best, filled with mundane low-level loot. There’s no vaulting over obstacles, can barely jump on stuff, not a single questline to follow or MMO stats to improve, can’t open doors – not even your car door, the repairing fuse box mechanic within stores is completely absent, there’s no random events occurring within the city, obviously no hordes of zombies, shooting feels janky even with the ability to use a workbench and add attachments to improve it, the UI is just a barely modified UI bundle you can purchase from the UE store and it’s just not worth your fucking time.

REVIEW SCORE: 1/10

It gets a 1 for being a real game. Wish it wasn’t.
