Logitech Crayon

This holiday season, I saw a ton of sales on the Apple iPad Mini 6 from retailers like Amazon, Target, and Best Buy. Retail price on these is normally around $499 for the 64gb WiFi version but many retailers had them on sale for $399! That made them very attractive in price, especially for an iPad Mini that features Apple’s new design language for the iPad with upgraded internals and compatibility with the new Apple Pencil 2. Needless to say, I picked one up for my daughter this year so she could get better at creating digital art.

Anyways, I’m not about to let her go without any cases or accessories so here’s a roundup of what I picked up from some of my favorite brands out there.

Incipio Sureview

Incipio SureView Case

The Incipio SureView Folio is built for media consumption and protection. The case features a polycarbonate case with extended folio corners. It also has magnets all over the case to secure the cover when not in use. There are also magnets to (Magnetic View-lock) that provide different viewing angles when the cover is used as a stand. Lastly, the case features sound channels that reroute the speaker’s audio toward the user instead of downwards. Like most iPad Mini 6 cases, there’s also space to hold the Apple Pencil 2 if you happen to have one.

kate spade New York Case

kate spade new york Protective Folio

The kate spade new york Protective Folio is the ultimate in style if you’re a fan of the brand. The case features a clear, polycarbonate case with playful, flowery designs on the back. I like that the color of your iPad shows through and helps highlight the kate spade designs on the back. The pink folio-style cover is also quite good and offers good screen protection with a little flap that helps secure the cover when not in use. The cover can also be used as a stand and features a slot to hold the Apple Pencil 2 but can also accommodate the Pencil 2 while it is magnetically charging.

Speck Balance Folio

Speck Balance Folio

The Speck Balance Folio is also another case with a cover on it. However, it does things a bit differently. Like previous Speck iPad cases in the past, this one also has a latch on it that helps keep the cover securely in place when not in use.It also has a feature I haven’t seen on other cases before and it’s a small cover for the camera that completely goes over the camera when not in use. When you do want to use it, you just pull it back and fold it. Lastly, you can also use the cover as a stand and there is also space to hold your Apple Pencil 2.

Logitech Crayon

Logitech Crayon

If you’re looking for a really good alternative to the Apple Pencil 2, the Logitech Crayon is your best option. This Pencil alternative does almost everything Apple’s official stylus does except for pressure sensitivity. It charges via USB-C port and works on all iPads that support either the original Pencil or Pencil 2. I like the wider body on it that makes it super comfortable to hold as well as the flatter shape that keeps it from rolling around on a table. It’s also less expensive than Apple’s stylus.

Apple Pencil 2

Apple Pencil 2

Of course, if you’d rather get Apple’s official stylus, then the Apple Pencil 2 is what you’ll need. The iPad Mini 6 requires that you get the Pencil 2 and not the original Pencil. What’s neat about it is that you can magnetically charge the Pencil 2 by attaching it to the side of the iPad Mini 6 and no longer need to awkwardly plug it into the lightning port like the original one. Not only that, the Apple Pencil 2 is the only stylus for the iPad Mini 6 that has pressure sensitivity. It is a bit on he expensive side though so wait for a sale to pop up for it.
