When it comes to personal audio, wireless earbuds are the it thing right now. Headphones are still pretty popular, but wireless earbuds are just so much more convenient especially with all the recent advancements made to them and all the different types that are available now. Take for instance the new Tribit FlyBuds 1. These are true wireless earbuds that feature simple button controls, a charging case that features both USB-C and wireless charging, and up to 30 hours of playtime, all at a ridiculously affordable price.
Let’s first start with the design. For starters, the Tribit FlyBuds 1 aren’t going to blow you away with their looks. They looks like pretty much every other set of wireless earbuds these days. The black color makes them especially less distinct. There’s also no logos on these aside from tiny letters that signify left and right. What I do like about the design however is that these utilize physical buttons and not a touch panel. That means no accidental taps and you only control them when you want to.

Sizing on these is pretty good and the box includes 6 pairs of ergonomic earbud tips. There are two different tip sizes and three different sizes for each. I like that once you find a size that fits you well, these pretty much stay in your ear with very little fuss. There’s aren’t any weird ear clips to mess with and they just stay on. They’re also very lightweight and for most of my usage, felt very comfortable to wear through long periods of time.
The Tribit FlyBuds 1 are also certified IPX8 Waterproof so they’ll survive conditions like being submersed, rain, and sweat with no issues.
Lastly, the charging case for the Tribit FlyBuds 1 are fairly compact, though not the smallest I’ve seen. The earbuds are securely held in place with magnets and same goes with the top of the case. Everything is held securely with magnets. There’s a handy little loop on the case too that you can attach a lanyard strap too if you see fit, which is included in the box. The charging case provides about four additional full charges to the earbuds, which themselves have a playtime of about 6 hours. So total you’ll get around 30 hours of playtime.

In terms of sound quality, the Tribit FlyBuds 1 utilizes high-excursion, low-distortion 8.2mm drivers. To most of you, that probably doesn’t mean much. Instead you just want to know how they sound and in my opinion, these sound pretty good. I think highs and mids are quite good and the bass isn’t that bad either. You’re not going to get really deep thumping bass like you probably would with headphones, but the bass here is still quite deep.
I tried these out with all types of music genres, rap, hip hop, country, pop, classical, and even movie soundtracks and all of them sounded pretty darn good. Even at higher volumes, there was little to no distortion. Needless to say, quite impressed with these considering how inexpensive these are.
Control wize, they are very easy to operate. The buttons are easy to press and both sides can be used independently of each other. That means you can choose to use either the left side, the right side, or both sides at the same time. There isn’t that constraint like there might be on some other earbuds. Controls are based on short tap, long tap, one tap, two taps. It’s simple to remember.

There is one thing however about the Tribit FlyBuds 1 that I would change and this is mainly with the charging case. There are no LED indicators on the outside of the case. They are only on the inside when you open it up. That means that when you’re charging the case, you can’t tell if it is charging or not and what the status is, unless you open it. It’s not a huge issue, but it can be inconvenient.
Aside from that one minor design issue, I’m quite pleased with the Tribit FlyBuds 1. They are pretty simple earbuds that sound great and you’ll come to appreciate the fact that they can be charged either with USB-C or wirelessly. Not only that, they’re super comfortable to wear especially due to the fact that they come with so many different sized earbud tips that there has to be at least one that will fit you perfectly.
The Tribit FlyBuds 1 can be purchased for $29.99, which is super affordable for earbuds of this nature.
