Hailed as Netflix’s answer to ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Witcher’ for those unfamiliar is based on international successful series of short stories and fantasy novels (which also inspired the series of video games) by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Set in a land called The Continent, which was invaded by demons from a parallel dimension that also gave rise to a breed of monster killers called Witchers. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Lauren Hissrich (Daredevil) offered a bit more clarity with the direction of the series. The tale follows Witcher Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and the mysterious young Ciri (Allan), together eventually form an unlikely family of sorts.
Henry Cavill is also a huge fan of the property, having read all of the books and play the games long before the property was being pitched to Netflix.
