With ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ opening this week, Sony Pictures decided to make the best of it by releasing the first trailer for ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’.
In 2017, ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ defied the odds going against ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ for the Holiday Box office but stayed the course and became Sony’s highest-grossing domestic release of all time. This Jumanji is a direct sequel with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas with their teenage counterparts Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner all returning with Awkwafina, Danny Glover and Danny DeVito joining the cast.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
“In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.”
Director Jake Kasdan also returns to the helm with writers Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg. Personally, I was really surprised and had a lot of fun watching Jumanji 2, so I’m curious what the new film will bring. This Christmas holiday, Jumanji 3 will only have a one week head start before ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’. Can ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ beat the odds again?
