A PG-13 cut of David Leitch‘s Deadpool 2 (let’s take a moment to fully absorb that) will be arriving this holiday season. A few months ago, the crew of Deadpool 2 went back and reshot many of the scenes for this tamed version of Marvel’s favorite wise-cracking anti-hero. Even I’m not sure what to make of it, but they actually were able to successfully take a Hard-R-Rated film to more family-friendly theatrical re-release dubbed Once Upon a Deadpool.
Promised to contain a “bulk of the footage of the original movie”, as seen in the trailer the film gives a nod to the 1987 film, Princess Bride with Fred Savage as a framing device. Okay, if you’ve never seen the film before, make sure you do before this one. As an extra incentive, a $1 of every ticket sold will go to Ryan Ryan Reynolds’ F*ck Cancer initiative, sorry, renamed to Fudge Cancer in the spirit of the PG-13 feature.
This family-friendly edition of the film is limited engagement starting December 12th and running through Christmas Eve.
