Last summer Huawei released the MateBook X as a stylish light ultrabook and this year Huawei is refining those efforts with the MateBook X Pro. While on the outside it looks strikingly familiar to its predecessor there are some welcome changes that may grab your attention.

While the Matebook X gave you a nice amount of screen real estate Huawei figured they would expand those visuals with what they are calling “HUAWEI FullView Display”. It gives you a killer 91% screen to body ratio and that’s thanks to the removal of the webcam. I was actually checking out the MateBook X Pro and its 3K display looks brilliant. I don’t even notice the removal of the webcam but Huawei didn’t necessarily do away with it. There is a button on the keyboard that you press that brings up a recessed webcam. It has more of a angled “view from below” style but I didn’t find it too awkward. I think it will be great for those that have security in mind and don’t have to put tape on parts of their displays anymore.

To go along with the MateBook X Pro’s awesome display they will have it running an 8th Generation Intel® CoreTM i7/i5 processor, a discrete NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 GPU
with 2GB GDDR5 and a long-lasting 57.4Wh (Typical Capacity) battery. If surround sound is your game the speakers will be baked with Dolby Atmos Sound System.
