With some interesting news coming straight out of Gamescom, its just been announced that if you purchase and play “Gears of War Ultimate Collection” you gain access to the older Xbox 360 titles Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment with the recent Backwards Compatibility feature that has been on the Xbox One. All you have to do is play Ultimate between August 25th and the end of the year 2015 for access.
It sounds like a pretty sweet deal for those that never got a chance to play the old Gears games and want to catch up to the storyline. Best of all you can carry over your saves and achievements and use XB1 features such as Game DVR.
If you are already in the Xbox One Preview you can actually play the original Xbox 360 version of “Gears of War” today. Also don’t forget by getting the Ultimate Collection you also gain access to the Gears of War 4 beta in Spring 2016.
