It looks like the competition for 3rd party MFI gaming controllers for Apple devices is really heating up with SteelSeries now entering the fray. Their new Status controller however differs from the competition as it is a standalone controller that can be paired to any iOS7 device, not just iPhone 5. It can be wirelessly paired to both the iPhone and iPad and up to 4 controllers can be paired to 1 device. This makes for a really interesting setup for local multiplayer matches.

Build looks pretty good on this, though we won’t really know until we get our hands on one but having a wireless controller has more advantages over the current crop of iOS7 controllers. The main advantage being that we can finally use a real gaming controller with the iPad. Pricing seems to be inline though at around $99. Hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on one soon.
