On June 10th, AT&T will launch the first 4G LTE smartphone to obtain UL Platinum Certification (UL Environment measures energy management, impact on health and environment among other things to identify a product as “environmentally preferable”). The Exhilarate is made up of 80% recycled post consumer materials. The Eco-friendly phone is also a pocket-friendly smartphone at just $50 (with a new contract of course). Â That’s quite a price for a phone that boasts a 4 Â inch super AMOLED screen and powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. Â It has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera (720P). Â It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
“AT&T is committed to developing and supporting products, like the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate, that enable consumers to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing features or the ability to enjoy a world-class smartphone experience,†–  Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility.

I think this phone is great for young kids/teenagers or those who need basic smartphone features without sacrificing speed and reliability. Â It reminds me of Samsung’s first 4G phone, the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G (without the keyboard).
