It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a new case for my iPhone so it’s about time that it got itself some new “clothes.” For a while, it was clad in some heavy duty protection but since spring is coming, I’m thinking it should be something a bit more stylish and airy. With that said, I’ll be taking a look at the Engage Form case from X-Doria. This stylish case is made from a lightweight plastic that snaps to the back of the iPhone. Unlike other Plain-Jane plastic cases however, this one has style to it that will make others do a double take.

The Engage Form’s unique attribute is that it has a simulated woven finish on the back of the case. What that means is that the back of the case is cut in such a way that it looks like it is made of woven plastic. It’s actually very nice looking and I like how it realistic the weave looks. The one I got is matte black and it seems to be coated in that soft-touch material. Usually, I’m not a big fan of soft-touch because after a while, the coating can start to “melt” and get all sticky. This however doesn’t seem like it’s a very thick coat of it so for now, it’s okay and feels really smooth.

As you can see from the pictures, there are openings in the back between the weaves. That means it can still be possible to scratch up parts of the back so be aware of that. I chose to use a clear rear protector with this case as an added measure of protection. Up front, the Engage Form does not extent beyond the thickness of the iPhone. That means that is sits flush with the phone and placing your iPhone face down means it’ll be sitting on the screen and not the case. Some people may not like that so also be aware of this. Also note that the case does not protect the front top and bottom top of the phone if dropped. These areas will be exposed to damage if you’re not careful.

All-on-all though, it is a very nice looking case despite the fact that it might not be the most protective, but then again, a lot of people care more about style than actual function. The Engage Form is very well made however and does make a good looking case. You can pick up the X-Doria Engage Form on their website for $24.99 which is s decent price for a case like this, although it does not come with any screen protectors.
