Based on Rick Remender’s “Deadly Class” gritty graphic novel for Image Comics. The series follows the students of Kings Dominion in the late 80’s. The show begins with Marcus Lopez, a broken down teen whose entire life is a series of unfortunate events. From the death of his parents to the slow and painful degradation of his sanity at the orphanage to living on the streets. Something inside him finally snaps, which causes him to commit a massive act of violence which leads him to be recruited. Kings Dominion is run by Master Lin, the school is composed of children of mob bosses and mass murderers, learning the similar trades as their parents. Think a punk-rock version of the wizarding school but assassins and thugs.
When I first heard Deadly Class was getting a television adaptation on SYFY, I was extremely curious how much they would hold back from the source material as the books do get to certain level of dark. The trailer does a nice job of what audiences may expect from the series. Starring The series stars Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf), Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Benedict Wong as Master Lin, but what really got my attention was the series is executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Winter Soldier, Civil War, Avengers Infinity War”). The exact date has not been released, Deadly Class is set to air on the SYFY Channel sometime in 2019.
