htc one android smartphone 2013 1

HTCOne-silver Today at a live press event in both New York and London, HTC unveiled their latest flagship phone for 2013. The HTC One. We attended the press event in New York and got a first hand look at the device, and here is some of my first take away items from this event and the phone.

The HTC One is a very attractive phone! – Mark Spoonauer from Laptop Magazine said it best when he put on Twitter “It’s safe to say that HTC One is most beautiful #Android phone yet. Your move, Samsung.” I’m very much inclined to agree with him 100%. HTC does in my opinion make some of the most attractive Android phones, and the HTC One is certainly a testament to that fact. It’s distinct zero-gap aluminum unibody is a thing of beauty. Coming in Silver/White and Black, both are very attractive looking devices. While there is the commentary that it looks like an iPhone, or that it is the mash-up of an iPhone 5 and the Blackberry Z10. My thoughts, who cares! This is hands down the most attractive Android phone so far!

The HTC One’s new features are to be desired after! – HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, HTC Sense TV and HTC BoomSound are some very cool features. With the BlinkFeed though I don’t think I would want it to be the first screen I see on my phone whenever I use it, it is something very cool. And you know what, they are adding content partners on an increasing basis. You’ll probably even see G Style as a content partner for it as well. I spoke with HTC’s Partner Manager and it looks like a smooth process for them to add new content whenever they need to. With Zoe, this kind of reminds me of Blackberry’s Story maker except you don’t have to do any editing yourself; it is being done automatically for you by the phone. Though the Zoe is limited to a 3 second clip (Vine on the other hand can do 6 seconds) and uses proprietary files so only other people with a HTC One can view or watch on HTCSense.com, it is still a cool feature. With Sense TV you can control your TV right out of the box. This feature is quite cool and I saw a demo of this by Maria at the event. After set up, you can see little icons that not only show you the shows that can be deemed important to you, but you can see a process bar on the icon so you can see how far along the show is. This and other features makes Sense TV very cool and I can’t wait to check that out more. And finally BoomSound I’m not that impressed with, not to say it is bad but mainly it is two front speakers instead of on the back and with Beats Audio included, they’re calling it BoomSound. Nice to have done, but don’t think it needed its own name for it.

The HTC One Specs are pretty darn good! – We tend not to get to spec heavy here at G Style, but it is worth noting for the HTC One. The HTC One has an 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 display on top and an 1.7Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and Adreno 320 GPU under the hood. The One is also sporting an 2,300 mAh embedded battery (no swapping batteries here). It has Android 4.1.2 and packing the new HTC Sense 5. It will start off with 32GB of storage but another model will have 64GB. For Ram we are looking at 2GB. For the camera it can do full 1080p HD recording for the front and back cameras. It can shoot video and take pictures at same time. All in all it is some nice specs overall.

The HTC One Will be here soon! – While I’m not happy that I just got the HTC One X+ and now this is coming out next month, I’m happy that the HTC One will be out some time next month. You’re looking $199 on contract for the 32GB model and $299 for the 64GB one. I’d probably opt for the 32GB to save cost, but if you have the dough go for that 64GB. I’m just glad it is more than 16GB like the One X. It will be on AT&T (yay! Yes my carrier), but also T-Mobile, and Sprint. Verizon was missing from this party so not sure right now, but we’ll see.

So now the real question is how many of you are trying to get the HTC One? Again this is one sexy machine right here, and right now the most attractive Android phone about to be out right now. If you’re into style like we are here at G Style, you need this in your life. So who is buying, and what model are you trying to get your hands on?
