Just in time for summer picnics, camping and just plain being “unwired” come the HMDX Jam. It’s an ultra portable (only size 2.5″ x 2.5″ x 2.5″), Bluetooth speaker, and comes in six “flavors” — Strawberry, Grape, Blueberry, Blackberry, Apricot and Apple.

Before review, I sat down with the Jam for a few hours to check the audio quality with several different genres of music. Nobody wants flat bass or crispy sounding audio even in a low point priced consumer product. After trying the Jam out with rock, jazz, classical, R&B and deep house, I can say it held out very well with all sounds. This shows that you can make a good audio speaker for under $40.00.

This is perfect for indoor and outdoor use. I used the Jam in the more controlled environment of my office and then took it on a picnic. Both times while Bluetooth paired with my iPhone I heard great sound and the rechargeable (via micro USB that’s included), lithium-ion battery lasted to about four hours. The HMDX Jam connects up to 30-feet away and works with all Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, tablets and laptops/desktops.

It takes approximately three hours to fully charge the speaker from being completely died. You can leave the charger connected as well while using speaker. There are two ways you can control sounds as well. Either use volume on your device you have paired with speaker or on base of speaker is independent from device volume control. This is perfect when paired with tablets and mobile phones that don’t tend to go very loud.

While one speaker is great for the ultimate audio experience. Currently I’m just using one in my office which for that space is just enough to deliver a great audio experience. At only $39.99 through many retailers that is definitely a reasonable price.

The HMDX Jam is available nationwide, virtually anywhere portable electronics are sold, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and more. For more information, you can also visit www.HMDXAudio.com.
