After years and years of the gaming collective begging and begging for the return of Scott Pilgrim vs the World the game, that day is finally here and as the title suggests… All is right with the world.

This game was originally introduced back in 2010 to coincide with the comic book (Written by Bryan Lee O’ Malley) and cult classic movie starring Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim. It was originally playable on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and after those systems were replaced by their newer versions this game went into moratorium never to be seen again.

This game was one of the most fun experiences I ever had playing a game. It’s not revolutionary, it’s more nostalgic. It’s set in Toronto of course and you can play this game as all of your favorite characters from the comic/movie. Who exactly? Scott (of course), Ramona, Kim, Steven Stills, Wallace, Knives, etc. You get all of the original downloadable content with an online co-op playable mode.

This game plays like River City Ransom for the NES in my opinion and it’s based on the comic book and not the movie. It’s a punch, kick, beat-em up 16-bit side scroller. You’ll go through the game collecting coins from beating up baddies and leveling up as you travel Toronto looking for Ramona’s 7 evil exes (Matthew Patel, Lucas Lee, Todd, Roxy, The Katayanagi Brothers and Gideon). The League of Evil Exes will not make it easy during your travels throughout the game. Enemies will gang up on you so just punching and kicking isn’t enough. Save your coins, level up and learn new combos. Try to use different characters as they all have different abilities and power-ups.

Currently you can find this game on ALL platforms. PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and PC. No word on whether or not it will be enhanced on the PS5 and Xbox Series X but it is at least backwards compatible. This game is EXACTLY what it was back in 2010 and nothing has changed which is a good thing. It’s still a ton of fun and just the type of game needed nowadays. You don’t even have to had read the comics or seen the movie to enjoy it. It’s currently on the Epic games store for $15 bucks and it’ll be $15 well spent. Trust me.
