Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a trailer not exactly, geared towards all that’s lovey dovey… I could be wrong. What if I told you the minds behind the first Deadpool movie and Fight Club came together to produce a mind-bending project for Netflix? Well reactions aside, it happened.
Filmmakers Tim Miller (Deadpool, the new Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Fincher (Gone Girl, Fight Club, Se7en) will executive produce with Jennifer Miller and Josh Donen, “Love, Death & Robots”. An upcoming animated 185-minute project anthology series for Netflix, featuring 18 stories – each between 5 and 15 minutes long geared toward adult audiences, covering multiple genres.
While Netflix hasn’t released exact details about the series’ creative teams, as in the many writers and directors behind each short. We do know it will comprise of different teams around the world, each contributing a unique animation style – from traditional 2D to 3D CGI. Netflix’s synopsis manages to only add to the suspense, “sentient dairy products, werewolf soldiers, robots gone wild, garbage monsters, cyborg bounty hunters, alien spiders and bloodthirsty demons from hell.”
Tim Miller calls Love, Death & Robots his “dream project.” “It combines my love of animation and amazing stories,” he adds. “Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so fucking excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.” L, D+R also reunites Miller with his Colossus star, Stefan Kapicic as Lieutenant Nikolai Zakharov.
