Director David Ayer recently found rave reviews on his work on another ensemble feature “Fury”, but got his big break in 2001 for his screen writing work on, “The Fast and the Furious” and “Training Day”.
Squad reunites stars Will Smith and Margot Robbie, who’s last worked on 2015’s heist feature “Focus”.
The DC Cinematic Universe goes into full effect. I’m not going to count “Man of Steel”. Tonight DC premiered a special focusing on the “Dawn of Justice League” a.k.a. the features leading to and after their Justice League movies (yes, movies). “Batman vs Superman : Dawn of Justice”, “Wonder Woman”, and one of the other highly anticipated films of this year, “Suicide Squad”.
Originally created by Ross Andru and Robert Kanigher way back in 1959, this modern version of the “Suicide Squad” is based on the work by John Ostrander and co-written by director David Ayer. Task Force X (a.k.a. Suicide Squad) is a group of incarcerated, death row supervillains based out of Belle Reve Penitentiary under the strict supervision of Amanda Waller. Covertly operating as deniable assets/assassins for the United States government, they undertake high-risk missions in exchange for a shorter prison sentences.
Suicide Squad unites Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), and Diablo (Jay Hernandez) in a team led by Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman). Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) overseeing the team. There’s no telling how much Jared Leto’s Joker will be in the film or who Scott Eastwood is playing. Speaking for myself, I’m more excited about seeing this film over “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice”.
