Just when you were getting used to Dual Band modems and devices adapting to the 5Ghz speeds of things. Netgear unleashes the first Tri-Band router giving even faster 5Ghz speeds and looking to fully utilize your bandwidth connection. The Nighthawk X6 runs a dual core processor and has six antennas to spread WiFi connection. It still works similar to a dual band router where if you have one on a 2.4ghz connection and the other on 5Ghz it will distribute the speeds properly. Add more 5Gghz devices and that second wave of 5Ghz or should we call it 5Ghz-2 comes into play.
I checked out the device at CE Week and its a pretty large device. Reminds me of an aircraft which we can see it derived its name from. I been a long user of the Netgear N900 so am looking forward to see how this will push my use of bandwidth even further. I been using more of my devices on 5Ghz and less on 2.4ghz to gain optimum speeds.
Besides the dual core processor I mentioned earlier it has 4 Gigabit ports on the back capable of pushing 3.2gbps, 1 Gigabit Wan port, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.
The Netgear Nighthawk is available July 11th for $299.99 and preorders are being taken now. Keep an eye out as we look to get a review out for one soon.
