After news broke of the Toq back in late September, Qualcomm was pretty quiet on its plans going forward. Those have been unveiled today with the Qualcomm Toq being released on December 2nd aka Cyber Monday. The pricing for it will be $349.99 which puts it higher then the Samsung Galaxy Gear but also will be in limited quantities. The big feature on the Toq is its Mirasol display which is supposed to keep it lit continuously for days based on the technology utilized. Also even hit by direct sunlight it will still provide a viewable face. Qualcomm WiPower™ LE technology will be used to make the Toq wireless so you can easily just pick up and go rather then having to connect it to a wire for charging.
• Stereo Bluetooth audio experience – first truly wireless stereo headphones that sit outside
the ear canal for all day comfort and wearability (available via the Premium Audio
Edition version – details coming early 2014)
Using Bluetooth you will be able to accept/reject calls, view text messages, get notifications right on your wrist. Also it will be preloaded with weather and stock apps for your viewing pleasure.
The best thing about the Qualcomm Toq is that it will work with all Android devices with at least Jelly Bean 4.0.3 and up which makes it range of use 10x over the limited abilities of the Samsung Galaxy Note and its use of Samsung devices with Android 4.3 which is officially 2. It would also be interesting to see if they can market it to any retailers besides just selling it exclusively online. It looks like its more of a way to get their technology out there and hopefully other companies will want to use it just like their impressive Qualcomm Snapdradon processor chips.
Will your wrist rock the Qualcomm Toq?
