Showcased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall in New York City, LG took the gloves off today with the official reveal of the LG G2. What I thought was going to be a zany rendition of Samsung’s Galaxy S4 launch back at Radio City in the Spring, it wasn’t as bad and long. LG showcased their latest and greatest smartphone device and the specs are pretty impressive and look to be the best to hit the market. Well possibly until the pending announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note III.
Under the hood the LG G2 is running the newest Snapdragon 800 processor which is at 2.26GHz Quad Core and 2GBs of RAM. The display is of a gorgeous 5.2-inch 1080p IPS LCD with 424ppi. Unfortunately there isn’t an expansion slot which leaves you with 16GB or 32GB.
The LG G2 in the hand feels as light as the Samsung Galaxy S4 doing a hands-on comparison. I was surprised how they were able to make it lightweight and still provide it with a 3,000mAh battery. They showed they were able to accomplish this by sawing off “dead space” inside the battery. How this battery will relate to real life situations remains to be seen.
Besides that there is a 13MP camera on the back and 2.1MP shooter on the front. Taking face shots or as the term is now “selfies” is easy as pie and can make u the proclaimed “King of Selfies”. Trying to take shots with the back camera was at times easy and may take some hand adjustments.
A move you don’t see too much from LG is that the G2 will be available on all four major carriers AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Seeing it on various providers for once should help the smartphone reach out to the mainstream and hopefully the consumer bases will embrace it.
Keep an eye out as we will be providing more information and release dates when available for the LG G2. If you’re a T-Mobile customer or looking to be future subscriber you sign up for future LG G2 news at t-mobile.com/lg-g2.
