I won’t even begin to tell you how much money I’ve spent/wasted on iPad cases over the last few months. Either they don’t fit, they’re too bulky, feel awkward or just way too expensive. After a couple of days listening to me complain and gripe the great people at Acase sent me a care package. The package contained two of their top-selling iPad cases, the F1 Folio (which we previously reviewed) and the Concept Hard Shell Case Folio. So far, of the two cases, the Hard Shell Case is easily my favorite.
The Concept Hard Shell Case Folio is composed of hard PC shell and cross grain leather. It adds minimal bulk to your iDevice and the custom contoured fit helps it fit perfectly in even the smallest gadget bag. An additional bonus is that the texture of the cross grain exterior offers scratch and dust prevention.
Despite the name Hard in the description, a soft micro fiber lining covers the display when closed. The case has a built-in magnetic closure with an elastic cord on the front that allows you to attach a stylus. It has all the typical cutouts that let you still access all the features and functions.
The Concept Hard Shell Case is very simplistic – you can open or close the case to automatically wake and/or put your iPad to sleep. It also works in two standing positions that are great for typing or watching videos. It’s compatible with iPad 2, the new iPad and iPad 4.
The display is covered gently by tender micro fiber lining. And the detailed cutout ensures all the functionalities accessible while you’re using the gadget. An elastic cord on the front cover allows you to put a pen or a stylus to the case.
The only downside is I found it hard at first to fold the case back flat when I wanted to read or write something down real quick. In comparison to all the other cases I’ve tried so far this is hands down my personal favorite and the $31.99 price tag makes it that much better.
