ARCHOS Unveils Gen10 XS Series

When you think about tablets we tend to think of companies like Samsung and Apple. Some of the other manufacturers seem to not even be in their league and you may not consider Archos even a contender, but don’t sleep. The first tablet Archos is releasing in the Since I read this Press Release I have vowed that I will part with my personal tablets and get this for myself. I can’t wait to get this in the GStyle Office!

There will also be a line up of accessories that will be available for the 101 XS when it’s released such as Speaker Docks and Docking Station.

Press Release

ARCHOS’ new Gen10 XS tablet line offers super-fast web-browsing, an extra slim design, and a unique magnetic Coverboard for protection, docking and easy typing

Denver, CO – (August 22, 2012) – ARCHOS, an award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, is pleased to announce the unveiling of its Gen10 XS tablet line. The ARCHOS 101 XS, a 10.1-inch tablet that weighs only 21 ounces and measures 0.31 of an inch thin, will be the first of this new line of extra slim Android™ tablets to debut mid-September followed by the release of the ARCHOS 97 XS and ARCHOS 80 XS later in 2012.

In addition to creating a new standard of thin for tablets, ARCHOS continues to push the technological boundaries with the innovative Coverboard, a unique magnetic keyboard conceived for each tablet model that will offer protection, a kickstand, docking and easy typing. The Coverboard is included in the box with each tablet.

The entire Gen10 XS line is Google™ certified, features Android 4.0 and allows full access to Google Play™ featuring over 600,000 apps. The range will be upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in Q4 2012.

“As the pioneer in the Android tablet market, we strive to continually push the technological boundaries of tablets and user experience,” says Henri Crohas, ARCHOS Founder and CEO. “We are taking our tablets to the next level by releasing an entirely new design that will redefine thin while providing more functionality and a better price than any current Android tablet in the market.”

Magnetic Coverboard: 4 Steps Ahead

The ultra-thin magnetic Coverboard included with all Gen10 tablets enables users to protect, stand and dock the tablet as well as type with a full-size QWERTY keyboard.

Protect
The 0.2” thick protective cover is secured to the tablet with magnets. To open, the Coverboard simply twists to separate and reveal the full keyboard and magnetic kickstand.

Stands
The magnetically guided docking system enables perfect alignment on the keyboard, eliminating the need for clips or stands. The integrated magnetic kickstand holds the tablet to the Coverboard as one solid unit, allowing users to sit back and enjoy their music and movies comfortably.

Docks
When docked the Coverboard is powered by the tablet providing hours of productivity. The Coverboard also has a DC in, so when it’s plugged into a power outlet the keyboard functions like a dock and charges the tablet.

Types
The Gen10 XS series come fully equipped with a chicklet-style QWERTY keyboard and a complete version of OfficeSuite Pro 6, a $14.99 value. This critically acclaimed application allows you to view, create, edit, print and share Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as well as open attachments and read PDF files. Combine that with a full QWERTY keyboard that also has integrated Android shortcut keys for direct access to main tablet functions for the ultimate in productivity.

  1. By far I have always felt that Archos has been ahead of the game. They don’t make much noise with the ads and all that stuff, but their PDA’s and tables are killer. I have been a fan of Archos since maybe right before 2006.

This Archos 10 is nothing short of the word dope…I mean let’s look at the fact that it comes with a cover that doubles as a keyboard (the magnetic kiccstand aint nothing to laugh at either)

16GB storage base is good enough for me, on a tablet I would not go over that just for the fact of what I got going on with my MBP and all the ext hdd’s that I have, but just incase that someone else would, they say (in my best english voice) “Let them eat cake!” and give you more space up to a max of 64gb, got to love that. If you need more then that you might as well carry a MBP with you, lol.

I did not see anything in the report of USB ports or anything, but most likely that’s a error on my half and there is atleast one, which then you can add a ext hdd and boost your storage up even more. I can’t wait for this to drop.

You have me looking forward to this thank you!

    • Thanks for your comment :). I don’t remember reading much about ports to
be honest, they had me @ ‘Press Release’. It says there is a Micro USB,
not sure if that translates to one or two, admittedly quantity of ports
isn’t a deal breaker for me I WANT it.

Not solely because it’s gorgeous but because as you pointed out Archos
has been ahead of the game, but because you don’t see alot of
advertising or incorporation into everything most people sleep on them.

A tablet is supposed to be portable but it seems you have to drop quite a
bit of skrilla on accessories to safely transport it with this tablet I
wont’ have to do that. The Coverboard not only protects it but I don’t
need to pony up $60 for a semi decent keyboard. Everything is made FOR
it and there are no accessories ever better than that.

of course at FIRST I was all hot and bothered over vanity but as I read
the specs I was very impressed especially with the other tablets that
have come out recently and are scheduled to come out later this year. I
definitely think this will replace the tablets I own now and keep me all
      about Archos for awhile.

    • When it comes to Archos, I don’t think they even know how to make something that is worth using the deal breaker phrase. I know I might be a fan boy for them but they make it worth it and make me, you and anyone that likes far more then love then able to bring their name up in a pound for pound battle with any of the others out there.

Well you proved my point it was a error on my part about the usb, lol. As long as there is one, then this already monster of a tablet can be supersized to do even more.

What usually gets me to not want a product sometimes it the vast amount of money to put out and then having to get 30 different extra expensive products to protect my already expensive investment but:

“A tablet is supposed to be portable but it seems you have to drop quite a bit of skrilla on accessories to safely transport it with this tablet I wont’ have to do that.” <—-Yup, they took care of that for you.

See the thing I like and I noticed, (and from reading your reviews I think you might also) is that Archos is the the customer first company. I see they come up with a product, think of what they would want it to do and come up with if they was buying it in the stores then they ram and cram into all into the product and sell it off to us, and I know I'm happy for it.

I can't disagree when you are right and I think you hit the nail on the head with that it's something that you can use to replace all your other tablets, it's a power house and they as a company know it, which I guess why they don't go into the bidding wars over big ads and all that, they let the product speak for themselves.
